From David G.:
The event we are planning to hold will be at the toboggan ramps at St Vital Park. Cars enter the park from River Road, north of Bishop Grandin. Follow the signs to the toboggan runs are marked, and are between the main park road and River Rd. Follow the signs. I will send a google map if needed.
Members can bring kids and any sliding toys the have.
I think a 6:30 pm start will be good. We will be there for about 2 to 3 hours. I will bring wooden toboggans, and a few plastic ones.
We will bring firewood, and stuff to start it. We will bring buns and wieners, cooking stuff, and cookies.
The city keeps the building next to the runs warm for us. The washrooms re pretty close too. The duck pond is about a block south, for anyone intent on skating, with its own change building.
Note from Llew: So we hope to see you there! I'll see if Scott will race me heads-up on our GT Snow Racers in a Pinks style "first of four" lose the race - lose your GT Snow Racer...heh...heh...

Sounds like a good time, I'm sure there are runs for the little ones? Would like to know who else is going.

Vicki and I went Saturday to check out the St Vital Park. The fresh snow slowed the last part of each run down a bit. It was still exciting and fast, but we did not go out into the forest as far as when it is 'icy'.
For those who will be exploring in the dark on the 20th: From Bishop Grandin and River Road, go 0.9 km north. Turn left into the park entrance. (It is not well lit, but it is the only road near the .9 km mark.) 0.4 km down the park road, there is a stop sign. Turn left here. Park with the other cars on your left a block down that road.
There is a series of shallow runs on the slope, to the left as you get to the main runs. Just right for little ones. Some of the shallow runs have bumps in them, but nothing too crazy.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone there! It will be fun!
